Agnes carried a bushel out to the beat up RV we kept for big runs. She glared daggers at me, and I reached out, grabbing her arm.

“What gives, old lady?” I raised an eyebrow at her.

“I swear if you die out there, I’ll find you and kill you again for my own pleasure.”

“Awww, you’re worried about me.” I smiled.

Her wrinkled hand flew up and slapped me across the face. “You dumbass!” The surrounding guys laughed as she shook her head. “Don’t you know what you mean to us? To Blackmeadow?” Her voice wavered. “All of you.”

Laughter subsided, and we all gathered closer to her. “We’ll come back, Agnes.”

“You better.” She sniffled as we closed her in, hugging her. “My grandchildren need you all.”

Waylon sniffled. “Thanks for being our gran.”

“I’m proud of you all.” She pushed us away. “Enough sappy shit. Finish packing.”

Julia waddled over to me. “I should be there.”

“Did you lose your fucking mind?” I spun to face her. “Jules, you are a force. Make no mistake about that. But this.” My hand pressed against her belly. “Makes you a liability.”

She growled and slapped my hand away. “I hate you.”

“You can hate me all you want.” I sighed. “As long as I know you’re both safe.” Turning away from her and walking away killed me.

Why can’t you accept that you and our child mean everything to me?

When she didn’t respond, I funneled my irritation into taking out the Letos scum that took my mom and brother from me.

Waylon, Dom, Neil, Gil and Bruno walked closer to me. They all had their duffle bags with them and following them were the Disaris sisters. Eva, Tessa, Sonja, Lily and Serena.

“Where do you ladies think you’re going?” I pulled out my smokes and lit one.

“You said we were family.” Tessa stepped up toe to toe with me. “Family protects one another.”

Eva stepped up next. “Family supports each other.”

Lily stepped up next. “We’re going.”

Admiration filled me. “Thank you.”

“Besides.” Serena laughed. “We get to slaughter some Letos bastards.”

Steve walked past us, threw a duffle in the RV and turned around. “You fuckers ready?”

“Where the hell are you going, healer?” Sonja motioned to him.

“I’m going to make sure you idiots don’t fucking die.” He grumped back. “So, are you ready or not? I can drive during the day. And patch you up if you fuck up.” He climbed into the RV and yelled out the window. “Let’s roll, fuckers!”

Baby, I’m heading out. I love you.

Be safe.

“You heard the man! Let’s roll!” I called out on my way to the RV and took the passenger seat.

Within moments, the rest of the team loaded up, and we rolled away from Blackmeadow. I think we were all lost inside our own heads.

“Well, I’ll be damned.” Gil grumbled from the back.

“What?” Neil asked and leaned forward to grab some water.

Gil chuckled. “Hand some water up to Steve. He’s thirsty.”

The RV pulled to a hard stop and Steve whipped his head toward Gil. “How the hell did you know?”

Serena smiled. “He has mind-tap.
